Sun Policy


Aim

This policy aims to protect children from becoming sunburnt, and to instil good practice with regard to exposure to the sun’s harmful rays.

• Parent/carer to provide suitable clothing and a named sunhat or cap

• Children should arrive at Pre-school with sun cream applied to all areas including face

• Children arriving without the above will be limited to the time allowed outside

• If there is a medical, religious or other reason why your child is unable to have sun cream applied please supply a letter which we may keep in your child’s personal file. We suggest that if this is the case that you provide a long sleeved light-weight top so that their arms are protected as much as possible.

Method

• Ensure children wear hats at all times when outside

• Limit time within the session that we spend outside in direct sun light

• Make provision for children who wish to play inside

• Provide drinking water.
